Ana Oliveira

Doctor in Education. Master's degree in Education Sciences: Education and Deafness, Bilingualism and Sign Language. Degree in Translation and Interpreting in Portuguese Sign Language. She has been working as a Portuguese sign language interpreter since 2014, with great dedication, providing services to and from Portuguese sign language in various institutional and private contexts. She has worked in higher education for ten years, in different departments at the University of Porto and the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. She was vice-president of the Board of ATILGP - Association of Portuguese Sign Language Translators and Interpreters between 2016 and 2024 and believes that association is extremely important for sharing, fighting and professional development. Aware that this is a relatively new profession, she believes that there is still a long way to go before it can be properly present and represented in society, in order to promote the full inclusion and accessibility of deaf people.
