About Us
Mission
The Pedagogical Innovation Center (CIP) is a functional unit of the Technical University of Porto dedicated to promoting pedagogical enhancement and innovation.
Its mission is to promote the recognition and enhancement of pedagogy as a distinguishing element of the teaching and learning process by strengthening the pedagogical dimension of teaching practice, improving educational models, fostering curricular innovation and pedagogical and scientific interdisciplinarity, and placing students increasingly at the centre of their own learning and development, within a framework of continuous quality improvement.
CIP’s work brings together people development, the improvement of educational practices, environments and experiences, and the production, mobilisation and dissemination of pedagogical knowledge through evidence-informed, collaborative and University-wide initiatives.
Objectives
Within this framework, CIP seeks to:
- Promote the education, capacity-building and professional development of the academic community
By recognising knowledge, skills and experience and creating opportunities for learning, collaboration and peer development. - Support the improvement and innovation of teaching and learning
Curricula and educational environments by promoting pedagogical approaches suited to different contexts and academic disciplines, as well as the critical and evidence-informed integration of technologies and resources. - Strengthen student-centredness, participation and engagement
Contributing to inclusive and accessible educational experiences focused on the quality of learning. - Mobilise and disseminate knowledge about teaching, learning and pedagogical innovation
Through studies, projects, networks and communities, as well as through the systematic documentation and sharing of practices. - Promote pedagogical interdisciplinarity and institutional collaboration
By bringing together people, academic disciplines, programmes, schools, organisational units and academic communities across the University.
