Academ_IA XP, a strategic initiative promoted by the Pedagogical Innovation Center (CIP) of the Polytechnic of Porto (P.PORTO), marked the success of its first edition by reaching the milestone of 408 enrollees. The project, which closed its applications on February 28th, is dedicated to promoting the ethical, responsible, and academically competent use of Artificial Intelligence within the academic context, confirming a massive engagement from the community interested in the convergence of technology and education.
The public presentation of the project took place on February 18th during a session held at PORTIC - Porto Innovation Center and broadcast via streaming, serving as the stage for the official launch of this integrated ecosystem of knowledge and training. During the event, a round table was held to discuss the challenges of AI in higher education, featuring contributions from Sandra Soares, Vice-Rector of the University of Aveiro and Coordinator of the AI in Higher Education Group of CNIPES, Francisco Fernandes, President of FAP, and Paulo Dimas, CEO of the Center for Responsible AI. The debate was moderated by Inês Cardoso, General Editorial Director of the JN/TSF Group.
Designed to go beyond isolated training sessions, Academ_IA XP proposes a continuous and collaborative approach, structured as a hub for courses, seminars, forums, podcasts, and communities of practice. The project's innovative methodology is based on gamification principles, allowing each participant to accumulate experience points (XP) throughout a flexible and personalized learning path, culminating in a final certification. The activities are entirely free, online, and accessible to participants from any institution, reinforcing P.PORTO’s commitment to a pedagogical innovation strategy sustained by ethics and social responsibility.
