Ricardo Queirós, professor at the Department of Informatics at ESMAD from Polytechnic Institute of Porto and coordinator of the Distance Learning Office at the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP), is the author of the new book AI and Chatbots – A Practical Guide for Everyone.
The work comes at a time when Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly present in everyday life, particularly through chatbots, and offers a clear, up-to-date and accessible approach to these topics. Structured in two complementary parts, the book begins by presenting the fundamentals of AI, contextualising essential concepts, key areas, applications and associated challenges. In the second part, it delves deeper into how chatbots work, addressing different types, currently available tools, prompt engineering and creation processes, including examples with platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot, also using no-code solutions.
With a strong practical focus, real-life examples and accessible language, the book is aimed at students, teachers, professionals from various fields and anyone interested in better understanding Artificial Intelligence, chatbots and their impact on the present and future of society.
AI and Chatbots – A Practical Guide for Everyone has 232 pages, is published by FCA, and is scheduled for release in January 2026. The book is currently available at major national bookshops, namely Bertrand, Almedina, FNAC, and WOOK.
