Portugal’s National Council for Pedagogical Innovation in Higher Education (CNIPES) will hold "Reflecting on the present, transforming the future: contributions to the sector" on 30 October 2026, at the University of Porto’s historic Rectorate building, in Praça Gomes Teixeira. The event will explore current challenges and future directions for pedagogical innovation in higher education.
The programme will present the Council’s work and contributions from its working groups across three areas: artificial intelligence in higher education; well-being, inclusion and academic success; and institutional structures supporting pedagogical innovation.
Discussions throughout the day will also address academic staff development, the contribution of interinstitutional consortia to advancing pedagogical innovation, and recognition of teaching practices. The programme includes a keynote by Thérèse Zhang, from the European University Association (EUA), on how academic staff development can enhance teaching and learning from a European perspective.
How to follow the event
The event will run from 09:00 to 18:00, with the opening session scheduled for 09:30. All times are local to mainland Portugal. The entire event will be streamed live on the YouTube channel of Portugal’s Institute for Higher Education (IES, I.P.), enabling viewers to follow the presentations and discussions remotely.
