The Centre for Pedagogical Innovation at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto was represented, on 23 March 2026, by Bárbara Veiga at an open lecture for the Digital Health degree course at the P.PORTO School of Health (E2S), focusing on digital accessibility and the creation of inclusive web environments. The session was attended by around 30 first- and second-year students, as well as their lecturers, reinforcing the active involvement of the academic community.

The Digital Health degree programme at E2S forms part of the Polytechnic of Porto’s commitment to training professionals capable of integrating technology, data and innovation within healthcare contexts, with a strong interdisciplinary focus and an orientation towards the sector’s digital transformation.

During the session, key concepts such as additional support needs, universal design, usability and assistive technologies were addressed, emphasising digital accessibility as an ethical, legal and pedagogical imperative. The potential of artificial intelligence in promoting inclusion was also highlighted, as were the risks associated with inaccessible digital solutions, in the current context of unbridled technological growth.

As part of INOV-NORTE – Centre of Excellence in Pedagogical Innovation, projects currently under development at the P.PORTO CIP were presented, with particular emphasis on the Digital HUB, a digital infrastructure shared by the higher education institutions that make up the consortium for the sharing of resources, courses and tools to promote educational innovation, built from the ground up with digital accessibility in mind, and the Teaching and Learning Support Laboratory, an infrastructure that will incorporate the future Assistive Technologies Laboratory and the Quiet Room, geared towards the development of inclusive pedagogical technological solutions and well-being.
