The CIP at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto is organising a Flash Seminar on Gamibot as part of the INOV-NORTE programme
The Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP) at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto is organising a new Flash Seminar dedicated to Gamibot (https://inov-norte.github.io/gamibot-docs/pt/), a solution that integrates artificial intelligence and gamification into Moodle to enhance student learning and engagement.
This initiative forms part of the INOV-NORTE programme – Centre of Excellence for Pedagogical Innovation (https://inov-norte.ipp.pt/), a consortium bringing together several higher education institutions in the Northern region (P.PORTO, U.PORTO, UCP, UTAD, IPB and ESEP) with the aim of promoting pedagogical innovation and digital transformation in education through the experimentation and implementation of advanced technological solutions.
Currently under development within this collaborative ecosystem, Gamibot is a conversational virtual assistant, accessible directly via Moodle, which allows students to create quizzes, obtain content summaries and clarify doubts based on course materials.
The solution utilises large-scale language models and an architecture based on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), ensuring contextualised responses aligned with the content of each course. Key features include the automatic ingestion of teaching materials, the generation of structured summaries, and the creation of adaptive quizzes with immediate feedback.
Gamibot also incorporates a gamification component, with points, levels and badges, promoting a more engaging learning experience and encouraging students’ continuous progress.
During the Flash Seminar, an integrated overview of the solution will be presented, including how it works, its technological architecture and the process of integrating it into Moodle. The session will also feature a live demonstration and a sharing of results from tests and pilot trials carried out within the context of INOV-NORTE, involving teachers and teaching teams.
