INOV-NORTE – Centre of Excellence for Pedagogical Innovation has launched INOVCast, a new podcast that aims to establish itself as a forum for reflection, sharing and debate on the future of higher education in Portugal. The initiative brings together experts from various institutions within the consortium to discuss practices, policies and challenges associated with pedagogical innovation.
INOV-NORTE is a collaborative project bringing together six higher education institutions from the Northern Region, including the University of Porto, the Portuguese Catholic University, the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, the Porto School of Nursing and the Polytechnic of Porto, with the common aim of promoting pedagogical modernisation and the transformation of teaching and learning processes.
Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) under the Impulso Mais Digital initiative, the project is based on a logic of inter-institutional cooperation and scaling up, seeking to foster innovative pedagogical practices, strengthen the digitalisation of training processes and promote student-centred learning in higher education.
In this context, INOVCast emerges as a natural extension of the consortium’s activities, bringing to the fore key themes such as pedagogical innovation, curricular transformation, the enhancement of teaching, and the impact of public policies on higher education.
The podcast consists of three episodes, to be released in stages: the first episode, released on 13 April, explores the concept of pedagogical innovation and the challenges of its implementation (UTAD and IPB); the second, released on 1 May, focuses on the link between public policies and institutional practices, including the role of the National Council for Pedagogical Innovation in Higher Education (U.PORTO and P.PORTO); and the third episode, scheduled for 22 May, explores the impact of collaborative work between institutions on the transformation of pedagogical cultures and student-centred learning (UCP and ESEP).
The Polytechnic Institute of Porto plays an active role in the INOV-NORTE consortium, participating in strategic planning, the promotion of initiatives and the generation of knowledge in the field of pedagogical innovation. Through P.PORTO’s Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP), it contributes to teacher training, the experimentation with new teaching approaches and the strengthening of inter-institutional collaboration, consolidating its position as a key player in the transformation of higher education.
INOVCast is available on Spotify and can be listened to at: Listen to INOVCast.
With this initiative, INOV-NORTE reinforces its commitment to the dissemination of knowledge and the promotion of a culture of pedagogical innovation, contributing to the development of a more flexible, inclusive and learner-centred higher education system.
