The Polytechnic Institute of Porto, through the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP), will hold the P.PORTO Internal Conference on Pedagogical Innovation (JIIP’26), an initiative dedicated to reflection, sharing and the collective construction of knowledge regarding pedagogical innovation in higher education.

Organised in close collaboration with the P.PORTO Schools, JIIP’26 is intended as an institutional space for dialogue and critical analysis of the pedagogical transformation processes developed within the institution, promoting the appreciation of the practices implemented and the discussion of emerging challenges that shape the evolution of contemporary higher education.

Building on the work carried out by the various organisational units and the pedagogical innovation initiatives promoted in recent years, this edition will seek to analyse the practices implemented between 2022 and 2026, with a particular focus on their impact on learning, student engagement and the promotion of academic success. At the same time, the aim is to contribute to the consolidation of an institutional culture of continuous improvement, underpinned by critical reflection, collaboration and the sharing of experiences among staff, students and pedagogical support teams.

The conference will focus on thematic areas considered priorities for pedagogical transformation in higher education, including curricular innovation and transformation, assessment for learning, teaching collaboration and professional development, inclusion and well-being, digital learning environments, the integration of emerging technologies, and the impact of artificial intelligence on teaching and learning processes. Issues related to pedagogical leadership, institutional cultures of innovation, and the generation of evidence on the impact of pedagogical practices on students’ educational experience will also be addressed.

The programme will take place entirely in-person and will include a plenary conference, a round-table discussion, parallel sessions of presentations, poster presentations, and thematic workshops organised by scientific field. The event’s structure has been designed to promote the exchange of perspectives across different disciplinary areas and educational contexts, fostering the dissemination of innovative practices and the building of collective knowledge regarding the challenges and opportunities of pedagogical innovation in higher education.

Calls for proposals for oral presentations and posters are now open until 26 June 2026, exclusively for the academic community of P.PORTO. Submissions may include practice reports, projects, examples of pedagogical innovation or research findings developed within the context of higher education. Proposals should highlight, where applicable, the impact on learning, active student participation, the pedagogical rationale behind the interventions, evidence of innovation, and a critical reflection on the results achieved and the challenges identified.

Proposals will be evaluated by the JIIP’26 Scientific Committee, and particular value will be placed on contributions developed in collaboration between staff and students, as well as interdisciplinary initiatives or those resulting from cooperation between different Schools at P.PORTO.

As part of the conference, a special issue of the journal PRÁTICA dedicated to pedagogical innovation in higher education will also be published. Authors of accepted proposals will have the opportunity to submit full articles for publication, which will be subject to a peer-review process in accordance with the journal’s editorial procedures.

The contributions gathered during JIIP’26 are expected to form a key basis for identifying strategic priorities and formulating guiding recommendations that will support the development of a shared institutional vision for the future of education and pedagogical innovation at P.PORTO.
