The Centre for Pedagogical Innovation at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto announces the publication of two new academic works with the participation of the CIP coordination team at P.PORTO. The books, launched in November 2025 by IGI Global, are the result of a joint effort by Mário Cruz, Ricardo Queirós and Daniela Mascarenhas and address key issues for professional teacher development and the evolution of educational practices.

The first title, Developing Teaching Competencies for Pedagogical and Curricular Innovation, analyses how teachers' skills are transformed in a context of continuous change. The book addresses topics such as instructional design, digital literacy and active methodologies, reflecting on the current demands of teacher training and how pedagogical and curricular approaches can be reinvented to respond to contemporary learning needs.

The second work, Building Teaching Competencies for AI-Driven and Inclusive Learning, explores the intersection between the use of artificial intelligence in teaching and the promotion of inclusive educational environments. The authors discuss how technology can be integrated in a way that benefits all students, without losing sight of principles of equity and diversity. Issues of educational data analysis, instructional design, and the challenges that arise when seeking to reconcile technological innovation with pedagogical practices that accommodate different contexts and needs are also addressed.

Mário Cruz, director of the P.PORTO Innovation Centre, coordinated the publication of the works together with Ricardo Queirós, coordinator of the CIP Distance Learning Office, and Daniela Mascarenhas, coordinator of the Training and Pedagogical Development Office. The collaboration between the three researchers reflects the institution's commitment to the production of knowledge applied to the areas of teaching, training and professional development.

The two publications are now available in electronic format, with paper editions. They are intended for teachers, trainers, researchers and all professionals involved in education who seek to deepen their understanding of innovative pedagogical practices and respond to the challenges posed by emerging technologies and diversity in the classroom.
