The students Alicia Ferreira (ISCAP), Ana Pinto and Rodrigo Borges (ESE), representing the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, took part on 13 May in the 5th edition of the Inter-institutional Critical Thinking Day, organised by the Portuguese Critical Thinking Network (CrithinkNet), which took place at the Northern Health Polytechnic Institute (IPSN/CESPU) in Gandra, Paredes.
The P.PORTO team’s participation followed their selection during the institutional edition of Critical Thinking Day, organised by P.PORTO’s Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CIP) last April. The event brought together students from around 20 Portuguese higher education institutions, who were challenged to reflect on and debate contemporary issues related to well-being, digital literacy, misinformation and healthy relationships.
Throughout the day, participants worked in inter-institutional groups, developing well-founded proposals for different thematic scenarios, in an exercise focused on critical analysis, argumentation and the collaborative development of solutions to current challenges.
The initiative included group work sessions, presentations and discussions led by guest experts in the various thematic areas. The programme took place at the Gandra campus of ESTeSTS – the Tâmega and Sousa Higher School of Health Technologies.
Inter-institutional Critical Thinking Day forms part of the work carried out by CrithinkNet, a national network dedicated to promoting critical thinking in higher education, with the aim of strengthening students’ abilities to reflect, analyse and participate actively across different institutions.
